The Work of Honeybees

Honeybees are small insects that live together in a home called a hive. Many thousands of bees can live in one hive. Their main job is to visit flowers and collect a sweet liquid. This liquid is called nectar. The bees take the nectar back to the hive and use it to make honey. Honey is their special food for the cold winter months. Honeybees also have another important job: pollination. When a bee sits on a flower, a yellow powder sticks to its body. This powder is pollen. The bee then carries this pollen to the next flower. This process helps plants make fruits and seeds. Because of their work, bees are necessary for nature and for the food we eat.
