Solar energy is power from the sun. We use special equipment called solar panels to collect this energy. Solar panels are often on the roofs of houses or in large, open fields. Each panel has many small parts called solar cells. These cells are very important. When sunlight hits the cells, they change the light into electricity. This electricity can power many things in our homes, like lights and computers. Solar energy is a clean type of power. It does not produce bad gases that make the air dirty. It is also a renewable resource. This is because the sun shines almost every day, so we will not run out of this energy.
